How to Convert a Number to a Percent

A percent is just a number on a 0-to-100 scale. To convert a decimal, multiply by 100 (0.42 → 42%). To convert a ratio, divide the part by the whole, then multiply by 100 (18 / 60 × 100 = 30%). The calculator above runs all three common conversions at once so you don't have to think about which one you need.

Common Number-to-Percent Conversions

0.01 → 1%, 0.1 → 10%, 0.25 → 25%, 0.5 → 50%, 0.75 → 75%, 1 → 100%, 1.5 → 150%. For ratios: 1 in 4 → 25%, 1 in 5 → 20%, 1 in 10 → 10%, 1 in 100 → 1%. Numbers greater than 1 produce percentages above 100% — that's normal when you're comparing growth, multipliers, or anything that can exceed the baseline.
